Culture Amp is currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Privacy and Product) to join our Legal team, reporting to our Head of Legal – Product and Privacy. This role will provide an opportunity to work cross-functionally with a number of practices across the business including Security, Product and Marketing to provide advice and guidance in relation to privacy, artificial intelligence, product development, data governance and product updates. You will also provide assistance with management of governance structures and processes that at central in the development of our platform. In this role will be challenged to find innovation solutions and product changes that will drive regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, growth focused environment.

From assisting our developers and designers, to co-ordinating cross-functional projects your involvement in all aspects of the business is not just encouraged – it’s essential. As a result, you’ll need to be comfortable working through complex problems to identify the key issues and use your legal expertise to find the best commercial outcome.
You have
- A Bachelor of Laws or JD. Admission to practice in Victoria or any other Australian jurisdiction.
- 3-5 years’ experience at a highly regarded law firm, and a bonus if you have additional experience working in-house in the technology industry (ideally startups).
- Experience with B2B, enterprise and technology contracts.
- Working knowledge of international data privacy regimes including the Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA and the EU AI Act.
- An IAPP certification (CIPP/E, CIPM or AIGP) will be viewed favourably but is not essential.
- Experience with data privacy and data protection aspects of product development laws, artificial intelligence and data security.
- The ability to draft legal documents, policies and strategies and meeting decks precisely and in plain language.
- Strong planning and organisation skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work with members of other practices.
- The attention to detail you'd expect from a lawyer.
- Experience working in-house, in particular within a SaaS business is highly desirable

You will
- Be involved in data privacy aspects of the business including advising on product development, integrations, sub processors, vendor engagement and data subject access requests.
- Review and provide guidance on Artificial Intelligence Impact Assessments and Privacy Impact Assessments tied to development of new product features.
- Actively monitor and advice on privacy and artificial intelligence laws including the Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA and EU AI Act.
- Review and update internal strategies, policies and customer facing collateral reflecting our privacy and AI posture.
- Actively participate in Data Governance Practice meetings for both the Data Governance Core Practice and Data and AI Working Group.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Security and other business teams on cross-functional projects.
