How you can help make a better world of work
We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Real-time Analytics Platform Team in the Data Intelligence Camp. You'll architect, build, and optimise a pioneering platform that will enable high-performance analysis across billions of data points, powering embedded analytics throughout our product suite and helping product teams deliver impactful insights directly to our customers. You'll work at the intersection of big data, performance engineering, and product development.
As part of this team of amazing humans,
You will
- Architect for scale and performance: Design and implement data platforms that support querying across billions of rows with sub-second latency, while maintaining cost efficiency
- Drive platform evolution: Lead technical decisions that shape our next-generation analytics capabilities, balancing performance, security, and developer experience
- Partner with product teams: Collaborate closely with product engineers to understand their analytics needs and build solutions that enable innovative customer experiences
- Champion technical excellence: Drive standards and continuous improvement in a high performing team, setting and meeting a high bar of engineering quality
- Mentor and grow talent: Guide junior engineers through technical challenges, architecture decisions, and career growth opportunities
You have
- Proven technical leadership: Track record of designing and implementing data solutions at scale, preferably in customer-facing environments
- Infrastructure expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS strongly preferred) including compute, storage, and networking optimisations for data-intensive applications
- Data warehouse expertise: Extensive experience with columnar and/or real-time analytics databases like ClickHouse and Redshift, including performance tuning, query optimisation, and scaling strategies
- Modern data engineering experience: Hands-on expertise with modern data processing frameworks, ETL/ELT patterns, observability, and governance tools
- Customer-centric mindset: Experience translating business and user needs into technical solutions that deliver measurable impact
You are
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, comfortable dealing with ambiguity when necessary. You take the initiative to ensure that you have everything you need to work effectively and ask for support when required.
- An advocate for the work of your team. You understand that building the platform is only half the job, and that listening to users and driving adoption is essential to success.
- Energised by growing others and helping them to reach their potential.
- Someone who loves collaboration - our teams are cross functional and you’ll be working with other engineers, team leads and product managers to deliver great outcomes together.
- Aligned with our values, check them out here: https://www.cultureamp.com/company#values and demonstrate them through your working practice.
