About the Team
The Portfolio and Delivery Leadership team sits within the Transformation Excellence group of Workday’s Finance Transformation Office. This newly formed function ensures Finance’s transformation portfolio is strategically aligned, well-governed, and outcome-driven. By bringing together portfolio management, program governance, and delivery leadership, the team drives transparency, accountability, and measurable value across all transformation initiatives. Acting as the connective tissue between strategic priorities, execution teams, and senior leadership, the team ensures that Finance transformation programs deliver against both near-term milestones and long-term business outcomes.
About the Role
Join Workday’s Finance Transformation Office and lead the Portfolio and Delivery Leadership function that drives alignment, transparency, and results across Finance’s global transformation agenda. As the Director, you’ll oversee the full Finance Transformation portfolio—ensuring initiatives are prioritized, governed, and executed with measurable impact. You’ll lead a team of delivery leaders, manage strategic roadmaps and reporting, and champion the realization of business value across critical programs, including the finance function areas of the Hire to Retire portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who excels at connecting strategy to execution and driving transformation outcomes at scale.
We are seeking a Director, Portfolio and Delivery Leadership to establish and lead this critical function within the Finance Transformation Office. This leader will own the end-to-end Finance Transformation portfolio—driving alignment with strategy, ensuring disciplined delivery, and managing transparency of outcomes. The role will oversee portfolio governance, initiative prioritization, roadmap management, and benefits tracking, while also providing direct leadership for the finance portion of the Hire to Retire transformation portfolio. The Director will lead a team of portfolio and delivery leads assigned to key end-to-end process areas and serve as a strategic advisor to senior Finance leaders. They will ensure every transformation initiative is grounded in measurable value, supported by disciplined execution, and connected to Workday’s broader transformation agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy & Alignment
Define and operationalize the Finance Transformation portfolio governance model to align initiatives with enterprise strategic priorities.
Manage the end-to-end transformation portfolio, ensuring initiatives are properly scoped, resourced, sequenced, and measured.
Partner with Finance, Technology, and Transformation Excellence leadership to continuously refine portfolio priorities and optimize investments for maximum impact.
Delivery Leadership & Execution
Lead a team of portfolio and delivery leads responsible for end-to-end process areas, ensuring consistent program execution standards across Finance Transformation.
Oversee delivery for the finance portion of the Hire to Retire portfolio, providing leadership and integration across initiatives that impact finance operations, systems, and processes.
Ensure delivery excellence through standardized governance, milestone tracking, and proactive issue management.
Build and manage portfolio-level dashboards that provide visibility into program health, dependencies, risks, and realized benefits.
Governance, Reporting & Value Realization
Develop portfolio management frameworks, including intake, prioritization, stage gating, and benefit realization tracking.
Drive the creation of executive dashboards and reporting that enable data-driven decision-making by Finance and Transformation leadership.
Partner with Finance Organizations, Change Management, and Process Ownership teams to measure realized value and adoption of transformation outcomes.
Ensure transformation investments are delivering on intended ROI, productivity, and experience improvements.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a single point of accountability for the end-to-end Finance Transformation portfolio, ensuring transparency and alignment across program sponsors, process owners, and delivery teams.
Facilitate effective communication and alignment with senior Finance leadership, the Transformation Office, and enterprise PMO counterparts.
Champion collaboration across Finance, Business Technology, HR, and Change teams to ensure cohesive execution.
Leadership & Capability Building
Build and mentor a high-performing team of portfolio and delivery leaders with a focus on delivery excellence, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement.
Develop frameworks, tools, and playbooks to institutionalize portfolio management and delivery leadership capabilities across Finance Transformation.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
About You
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in Transformation, Program Management, or Portfolio Leadership within large, global organizations.
Proven success leading enterprise portfolios or major cross-functional transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of finance processes, systems, and enterprise transformation dynamics.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, finance, or project management preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Expertise in portfolio management, governance, and program execution frameworks.
Ability to connect strategic intent to operational delivery, ensuring transformation outcomes are measurable and sustained.
Strong analytical and executive reporting capabilities with experience developing dashboards and tracking value realization.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills with experience engaging senior executives.
A mindset focused on impact—ensuring transformation investments deliver measurable value and tangible business outcomes.
The ability to create and lead a trusted function that becomes the backbone of transparency, accountability, and delivery excellence within Finance Transformation.
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
