Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Human Resources (HR), the Manager, HR Technology serves as the department’s technology leader, overseeing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and solutions that support HR and Team Members. This role partners across the Company to provide reliable systems, trusted data, and practical technology solutions that help Team Members be more effective.
Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. The Manager, HR Technology develops people, builds trusted partnerships, and applies technology in practical ways to simplify work, improve decision-making, and enhance the Team Member experience. By balancing business needs with thoughtful technology decisions, this leader helps HR deliver exceptional service today while preparing for tomorrow.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

Serve as the HR technology leader, aligning priorities with HR’s mission and Company goals.

Develop, coach, and lead the HRIS Team by building technical expertise, promoting accountability, and delivering dependable service.

Set the direction for HR technology by simplifying work, automating processes, expanding self-service, and making technology easier for HR and Team Members to use.

Oversee the Workday platform, including configuration, security, reporting, integrations, testing, releases, and system standards.

Partner with business leaders to understand needs and deliver technology solutions that improve business processes.

Lead HR technology projects from planning through implementation by communicating clearly, building alignment, and delivering solutions that create value for HR and the Company.

Establish standards for documentation, testing, security, change management, and HR data governance to ensure consistency, reliability, confidentiality, and compliance.

Develop reporting and dashboards that help leaders make informed decisions and improve business performance.

Oversee the department budget, vendor relationships, resource planning, and expenses while ensuring Economy & Effectiveness (E&E) and responsible stewardship of Company resources.

Demonstrate the HR Department’s leadership principles through accountability, unity of direction, and a SUP (Supportive, Upbeat, and Positive) approach.
Skills, Requirements & Qualifications
Required
-
8+ years of progressive experience supporting HR technology, HRIS, enterprise applications, or related business systems.

5+ years of leadership experience developing technical professionals and leading cross-functional teams and/or initiatives.

Demonstrated success leading HR technology strategy, implementations, and system enhancements.

Extensive experience administering Workday HCM, including business processes, security, configuration, reporting, integrations, testing, and releases.

Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions that improve service and support business objectives.

Strong understanding of HR, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, Recruiting, and related business processes.

Strong analytical, project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and business teams.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
-
Strong technology aptitude with the ability to identify simpler, more effective ways of working.
Preferred
-
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Workday certifications and/or advanced Workday experience.
-
Experience supporting Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, or other Workday functional areas.

Experience with Workday integrations, APIs, Extend, Prism Analytics, Studio, Azure, or related technologies.

Experience leading Agile, Scrum, or other iterative technology delivery methodologies.

This is a full-time, salaried position based on-site at U-Haul's Midtown Campus Tower in Phoenix, Arizona. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday; however, flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is required to support business operations, Company initiatives, and Team Member needs.
