The International Org
For many years, one of Justworks’ core competencies has been enabling US-based companies to reliably pay their domestic employees and contractors. The Money Movement team, part of the International Engineering organization, is responsible for building on top of that foundation to empower our customers to also pay their international employees and contractors. Our team’s current focus is on automating the entire multi-step, cross-border payment flow. Moving forward, our roadmap includes expanding into more supported countries, enabling currency flexibility, and increasing the speed of cross-border payments.

As a Software Engineer on the Money Movement team, you will build and maintain the services that enable our customers to pay their international employees and contractors. You will leverage your experience working within a service-oriented architecture, and will maintain a working knowledge of separating data and functionality as necessary. You will be working primarily in Ruby on Rails, but prior knowledge is not a requirement.
What You Will Work On
- Collaborate with a cross functional team to improve and scale the frameworks our engineers build on top of
- Add capabilities to our high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure
- Take ownership of building flexible, test-driven software that minimizes tech debt and enables change
- Support, monitor, and maintain integrations with industry leading third-party platforms
- Implement internal services
- Enhance our testing, monitoring and continuous deployment infrastructure
- Keep extremely sensitive data compartmentalized and secure
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional hands-on experience
- Strong object-oriented design and coding skills
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience working with complicated systems at scale
- Experience in a high-growth environment working with deadlines and milestones
- Experience working on software handling financial transactions would be beneficial
Technologies Used
We are building a highly available and globally distributed Ruby on Rails API with Kubernetes on AWS. The front-end is built on React with TypeScript and GraphQL. Observability, monitoring, and metrics are managed through DataDog and Rollbar. Internal tooling is built with Retool.
The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $115,000 to $155,000 per year.
