Summary:
ZipRecruiter is looking for a highly motivated, experienced senior accountant that possesses solid communication, organizational and analytical skills. This position will be an integral part of the general ledger month-end close and will report to the Sr. Manager, Accounting. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, strong financial analysis skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that seeks to improve existing processes as we scale our business. This position will be entrusted to collaborate in a cross-functional capacity serving as a trusted business partner on the Accounting team.
Key Focuses:
- Play an integral role in the general ledger month end closing process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting account analysis with an emphasis on adhering to deadlines
- Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliation schedules by reviewing the general ledger activity and obtaining a full understanding of the account activity to support month-end reported balances
- Prepare journal entries and assist in month-end close processes in various accounting areas, including, but not limited to payroll, benefits, revenue recognition, accruals and capitalized software
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of payroll transactions and accruals in the general ledger, including but not limited to salary expenses, payroll taxes, vacation, bonus and other fringe benefits
- Assist in treasury operations including reconciling bank accounts
- Support internal and external audit requests, providing documentation, support and explanations as needed
- Assist in documentation, evaluation and monitoring of internal controls
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as FP&A, Payroll, Tax, Legal, Sales and IT, to streamline the accounting close process, improve efficiency, and enhance controls
- Review, prepare and analyze transactions, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and provide variance explanations
- Stay current on changes to U.S. GAAP such as accounting standards updates and have an in-depth understanding of current standards
- Participate in various ad hoc projects, initiatives, reporting, and analysis as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, or related field
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant work experience
- Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $82,500-$115,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.
Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
