About the Role
The Senior Manager, Infrastructure Identity and Access Management (IAM) will be a pivotal leader within our global infrastructure organization. This role is responsible for the planning, strategy, design, implementation, and ongoing operational excellence of our infrastructure IAM program. You will lead a talented team of IAM professionals, ensuring robust and secure access controls for our critical infrastructure, cloud environments, and applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical IAM expertise, strong leadership acumen, and a proven track record of developing and executing IAM strategies that align with business objectives and mitigate risk. This is an active hands-on, high impact leadership role to create a seamless role-based Identity experience that will help Workday developers do their job better and more securely.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Development:
Develop, implement, and maintain the long-term strategic roadmap for infrastructure IAM, aligning with cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements, and business goals.
Drive innovation in IAM by evaluating and recommending new technologies, processes, and security protocols.
Champion the IAM vision across the organization and articulate its value to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IAM engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Manage team resources, set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support career development.
Oversee daily operations of the IAM team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
Technical Oversight & Architecture:
Provide expert-level technical guidance on the architecture, design, and implementation of IAM solutions across on-premise infrastructure and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
Oversee the management and evolution of core IAM services including, but not limited to:
Identity Lifecycle Management (Joiner, Mover, Leaver processes)
Authentication and Authorization services (MFA, SSO, Federation - SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
Directory Services (Active Directory, LDAP)
Ensure IAM solutions are designed for scalability, reliability, and security.
Operational Excellence & Security:
Establish and maintain robust IAM policies, standards, and procedures.
Oversee IAM operations, including monitoring, incident response related to identity and access, and problem resolution.
Drive automation of IAM processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.
Ensure the security of identity data and access pathways, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 7+ years focused specifically on Identity and Access Management.
Minimum of 4+ years in a leadership or management role, with demonstrated experience building and leading technical IAM teams.
Deep understanding of IAM principles, best practices, and core technologies (MFA, SSO, PAM, IGA, PKI, federation protocols like SAML, OAuth, OIDC).
Proven experience with designing, implementing, and managing IAM solutions for complex on-premise and multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) infrastructure environments.
Strong knowledge of directory services (e.g., Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, LDAP).
Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions (e.g., Boundary, CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Delinea).
Other Qualifications :
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Hands-on experience or team leadership oversight with automation tools and languages, including Ansible, Python, Go, Chef, Terraform; proficient in CI/CD, build management and monitoring.
Experience with networks, servers, storage, and operating systems in on-prem and cloud environments; skilled in deployment orchestration and automation frameworks.
Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and integrating IAM into CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) concepts and implementations.
Experience in a large, global enterprise environment.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $152,000 USD - $228,000 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $144,400 USD - $270,000 USD
