About the Team
The US Payroll Product Management team is a cornerstone of Workday’s payroll excellence. We are a group of dedicated experts who do more than just manage mission-critical compliance; we build high-value, innovative features that drive strategic business outcomes for our customers. Our team strikes a purposeful balance between the precision required for regulatory work and a passion for creating value-driven solutions that move the needle for payroll leaders and workers alike. We pride ourselves on being the trusted partners who help our customers navigate the complexities of US payroll while delivering the modern, forward-thinking tools they need to thrive.
About the Role
We are looking for a collaborative leader to guide our US Payroll Product Management team. In this role, you will support a talented group of Product Managers as they navigate a unique set of priorities. Your main focus will be helping the team balance the "must-do" regulatory and compliance requirements with customer commitments and high-value innovations.
You will be a key player in shaping the US Payroll strategy, looking for ways to use AI and Agentic technology to make payroll easier for leaders, practitioners, and workers. You’ll also act as a mentor and coach, looking for opportunities to optimize our internal processes so the team can focus more on the work they love—building great products. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lead who is ready to step into a formal management role while staying close to the product.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Guidance: Support and mentor a team of Product Managers, helping them grow their careers and navigate complex product challenges.
Strategic Roadmap & Prioritization: Partner with the team to define and execute a roadmap that expertly balances regulatory "must-dos" with high-impact, value-driven features. You will help the team navigate these priorities while exploring how AI can push the boundaries of what’s possible in US Payroll.
Process Evolution: Partner with the team to identify how new technologies (like AI) or improved workflows can make our day-to-day operations smoother and more efficient.
Strategic Roadmap: Define and execute a US Payroll roadmap that maintains compliance excellence while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between your team and stakeholders across the company to ensure we are delivering a cohesive experience.
Product Ambassador: Represent the US Payroll product at industry events, user groups, and in high-level customer discussions, sharing the story of our team’s innovation.
About You
You are a payroll enthusiast who enjoys the challenge of solving complex puzzles. You are someone who leads with empathy and is energized by helping others succeed. Whether you are an experienced manager or a senior lead looking to take the next step in your career, you have a proven track record of bringing people together to deliver high-quality results.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of Product Management experience in a SaaS/B2B environment.
Leadership Experience: Experience as a people leader is a strong plus; alternatively, a proven track record of leading large, complex projects and cross-functional initiatives to successful completion is required.
Payroll Knowledge: A strong interest in and experience with payroll functionality (ideally Workday products).
AI & Innovation: Experience with (or a strong technical interest in) AI, Agents, and LLM-powered technology.
Other Qualifications:
Compliance Mindset: You understand the importance of US-specific regulatory requirements and how to manage them alongside innovation.
Empathetic Leader: You are a customer advocate who values user-centric design and team well-being.
Operational Thinker: You enjoy looking at "how" work gets done and finding ways to make it better through technology or better collaboration.
Collaborative & Decisive: You can navigate ambiguity and make effective decisions while keeping your team and stakeholders aligned.
Adaptable: Comfortable working with distributed teams across different time zones.

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
