Title: HRI Scientist - Gene Targeting and Transgenics Job Type: Regular Company: Health Research Inc. Department: Molecular & Cellular Biology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: This position will be twofold: (a) the position will perform a variety of specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators. Specifically, the research will study preclinical models in ovarian cancer and Treg biology; (b) the position will be adept in all aspects of genome editing and mouse genetics from project design through implementation of CRISPR genome editing including cohort generation and phenotypic analysis. Performs basic and applied research involving the formulation, conduct, analysis, interpretation and reporting of scientific investigations of phenomena or problems associated with the cause, cure, treatment, and prevention of cancer; conducts and may supervise phases of creative, original and independent scientific research studies in a specific field of assignment; defines problems and issues that enhances the development of scientific research programs; contributes significantly to a base of scientific knowledge; may teach in graduate education programs; generates peer-reviewed funding for Institute scientific research projects Salary range for this position is $39,900-$185,000 annually which includes comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience 1. M.D. or PhD in an appropriate field; or 2. Master's degree in an appropriate field NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate should have extensive experience with in vitro and in vivo experiments of using pre-clinical mouse models, isolation of immune cells from blood and tumors for immunological assays in mouse and human systems; flow cytometry, mouse handling, cell culture, and gene expression analysis; scientific writing for publications, IACUC protocols and Grant progress reports. In addition, the preferred candidate will have experience in development and testing of hypotheses related to translational research; use of mouse models in physiology, molecular biology and cancer research; Bioinformatics data analysis, western blot, qPCR are a plus.
