The Workday Developer Experience team is looking for a hardworking, passionate, software engineering manager to help us make tools for our developer community to extend the value of Workday. You will be joining a full stack development team who is responsible for new and existing features, along with the scalability and performance of the Workday developer website and associated developer tools.

Manager, Software Engineering will be responsible for delivering and executing a compelling strategic roadmap and portfolio. Key responsibilities for this role are to build, grow, develop and mentor a highly capable development team.
- Lead a team of diverse software developers building developer tools for users using React, Kotlin/Java that empowers customers as well as all ecosystem services at Workday
- Provide mentoring and support to direct report staff in both technical and non-technical issues. Ensure high efficiency of team members. Provide support for their career growth and personal development
- Understand business strategy and goals, translating those into meaningful objectives and key results
- Collaborate with product management and other engineering organizations to determine release scope and to ensure that features meet requirements
- Contribute to process improvement within a development organization and embrace the best engineering practices
- Own the day-to-day agile activities of the team and actively track the release and metrics for the team
About You
Basic Qualifications:
- 6+ years software development experience with large-scale Internet-facing systems
- 3+ years previous experience managing a team including performance and career management
- Experience writing software in at least one modern programming language such as Java and front-end development knowledge
- Ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of audiences
Other Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for software development and building a strong engineering team. Ability to hire, empower and inspire the team
- Experience in leading software development for distributed scalable systems
- Demonstrated ability to take a project or significant feature from concept to launch
- Comfortable coding alongside the team when needed
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $148,000 USD - $222,000 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $140,600 USD - $264,000 USD
