About the Team
We are excited to announce an outstanding opportunity to join Workday Inc as a Software Development Engineer (Performance, Resiliency and Scalability). The Performance, Resilience and Scalability Engineering team is looking for the best candidates to help drive performance analysis, optimization of Workday's leading enterprise cloud HCM, Analytics and Financial offerings.
About the Role
The team has a broad charter that spans from debugging and recreating specific customer issues, to using the latest Big Data techniques in order to extract practical data and model future capacity needs. The position is ideally suited to candidates from a performance engineering or development background with a deep focus on performance and resiliency engineering. Workday Performance, Resiliency and Scalability Engineers are generalists with deep technical understanding of software, hardware, networking and modern distributed systems. They enjoy taking a comprehensive view of sophisticated systems. They are developers, analysts, engineers, testers and data scientists. Application Performance is achieved by working closely with Development, Product Management, Support and Operation teams. Our ultimate goal is application performance that yields an excellent end-user experience.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in Software Development with roles like Developer, Performance Engineer or Service Reliability Engineer.
- Bachelors Degree (or higher) (Computer Science or Software Engineering preferable)
Other Qualifications:
- Experience with any of the tools used for performance and Scalability studies Load-runner, JProfiler, Jconsole, Gatling, Postman and system tools vmstat/strace, sar etc.
- Good understanding of Object-oriented programming languages like Java, C#, Scala
- Good understanding of performance analysis, capacity planning and SaaS architecture.
- Background in system architectures, high-performance computing, and distributed systems.
- Large scale, distributed software design & development experience in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Well versed in design & algorithms as well as strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Experience in effectively working with cross-functional organizations.
- Good understanding of private & public cloud.
- Experience in dealing with live production issues.
- Experience and passion for Data Science and Big Data technologies, Hadoop, Hive, ElasticSearch, Apache, Spark
- Prior Experience with public cloud platforms such AWS and GCP
- Experience with Chaos Engineering and associated system resilience engineering techniques
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Data Analysis using Jupiter Notebooks, Goku etc.
- Familiarity with Kibana, Wavefront etc
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $124,000 USD - $186,000 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $117,800 USD - $210,000 USD
