Supervisor, Accounts Receivable
Summary/objective
The Accounts Receivable Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the collections team and driving effective receivables management. This position oversees the daily operations of the AR Analysts and Senior Analysts, ensuring timely invoicing, cash application, and resolution of outstanding balances. The Supervisor will champion collection efforts, remove roadblocks, and collaborate with the AR Manager to implement strategies that improve recovery rates and streamline processes.
Core Job Duties
- Lead and support the collections team in executing daily AR functions, including invoicing, cash application, account reconciliation, and customer follow-up.
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely escalation and resolution of delinquent accounts.
- Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to Analysts and Senior Analysts, fostering a proactive and accountable collections culture.
- Review bad debt write-offs and ensure proper documentation for external collection agency submissions.
- Partner with the AR Manager to refine collections policies and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Facilitate training and development for team members to strengthen collections techniques and customer communication.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve customer disputes and ensure accurate billing and payment application.
- Support integration of receivables from acquisitions and ensure smooth transitions.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement.
- Perform ad- hoc analyses and reporting to support strategic decision-making and audit requests.

- Works on issues of limited scope. Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Monitors daily operations of a unit or sub-unit. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.

- Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
Supervision
- Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or sub-unit. Generally, supervises semi-skilled employees (e.g., production, customer support, clerical).
Experience
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of direct experience; may not require prior management experience.
Scope
- Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Discretion
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in AR or collections, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong understanding of AR and collections principles and best practices.
- Proven ability to motivate and support a team in achieving collection goals.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP) and data entry.
- Flexible and responsive to changing business needs.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 7 pounds.
