About the Team
The Workday Education team creates engaging, innovative learning experiences that empower our customers, partners, and employees to make the most of Workday. Within this group, the Education Media team is responsible for producing high-quality videos and motion graphics that elevate our learning programs and internal communications.
We’re a small but mighty team based in Pleasanton, CA—and we’re excited to be opening a brand-new, state-of-the-art studio in early 2026.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Principal Video Producer to lead the creative and technical direction of our video production efforts. This is a senior-level, hands-on leadership role that blends creativity, strategy, and production management.
You’ll own a portfolio of projects from concept to completion—shaping the message, leading the production process, and delivering compelling, high-impact content that brings complex ideas to life.
You’ll also set the tone for creative excellence within the team—establishing best practices, mentoring others, and ensuring our work reflects Workday’s brand and business goals.
What You’ll Do
Own the full production lifecycle – from concept development and storyboarding to directing, shooting, and post-production.
Collaborate with stakeholders to determine the most effective way to deliver their message—whether through video, animation, or another format.
Direct and produce shoots, often with executive-level or non-actor talent, ensuring professional, authentic performances.
Lead and mentor a small team of producers, designers, and editors, driving quality, consistency, and creative growth.
Manage timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple concurrent projects (typically 4–8 at a time).
Champion storytelling and clarity, helping transform complex or technical subject matter into engaging, digestible content.
Guide process and strategy, improving workflows, fostering collaboration, and setting standards as the new studio launches.
Represent the media team in cross-functional discussions—advocating for resources, creative integrity, and production excellence.
About You
You’re a creative storyteller, a confident leader, and a strategic thinker. You know how to inspire a team, manage multiple priorities, and deliver great content—even when timelines are tight. You understand that producing great corporate video isn’t just about visuals—it’s about clarity, engagement, and impact.
You thrive in a collaborative environment, bring calm and confidence under pressure, and have a passion for creating content that helps people learn and grow.
Your skills, experience, and qualifications:
8–10+ years of experience in corporate video production or a related field (corporate training experience a plus).
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Film, Media Production, Communications, or Instructional Technology.
A strong portfolio showcasing diverse formats—such as instructional videos, animations, interviews, scenario-based training, and short documentaries.
Expert-level understanding of the entire production process: concept, scripting, scheduling, directing, lighting, sound, editing, motion graphics, and color correction.
Experience working with executives and non-actors, helping them deliver natural, confident performances on camera.
Proven ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging video lessons.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships and expectations with multiple stakeholders.
A collaborative, proactive mindset—you love finding solutions, balancing creative vision with business needs, and delivering exceptional results.
Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll have creative ownership and direct impact on Workday’s learning experience.
You’ll lead with vision while staying close to the craft.
You’ll shape the future of a growing media team and a brand-new studio.
You’ll join a culture that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
