Under the general direction of the Compensation Manager, the Senior Compensation Analyst administers and implements compensation programs, initiatives and activities. Serves as a project leader on compensation assignments or projects. Provides consultative services to HR Partners and HR Payroll Analysts, supervisors, managers, and administrators on a wide-range of compensation matters including selection of appropriate job descriptions, new hire offers, compensation strategy, utilization of overloads, reclassifications and internal promotions, internal/external benchmarking data, market adjustments, bonuses, job postings, compliance with legal regulations and university policies and procedures, etc. Responsibilities include overall job analysis and evaluation, wage and salary programs, and merit and performance management programs.
Essential Duties:

Serves as project leader for hospital-wide job analysis, system implementations, position evaluation, and market pricing to ensure internal consistency and external competitiveness.

Oversees job descriptions for the Keck Medicine. Reviews and implements new job classifications and job description change request.

Leads the team in maintaining compensation system and implementing new compensation related systems or programs.

Leads the team on job code table update requests, retro payments and other assigned projects.

Advises on selection of appropriate job descriptions, new hire/status change offer rates, utilization of overloads/charge differentials and reclassification and status changes.

Reviews reclassification requests and implements the changes partnering with department heads and central HR.

Participates in externally-sponsored compensation surveys. Determines appropriate matches and gathers requested information.

Responds to inquires of a confidential and sensitive nature.

Conduct compensation reviews for assigned groups and leads compensation review projects such as, one-off review request, group reviews and status change/new hire compensation reviews.

Implements staff compensation programs and ensures union and non-union increase are assessed correctly from the beginning and end of the program. Participates in compensation analysis for union negotiations for all union jobs for term of agreement(s). Recommends market appropriate union wage steps.

Serves as a senior compensation analyst providing comprehensive consultative services on a wide-range of compensation related issues and/or matters to HR Partners, HR Payroll Analysts, supervisors/managers and administrators.

Assist HR upper management with executive annual incentive program and other HR related projects.

Serves as project leader on compensation assignments or various types of projects. Participates in determining action plans. Researches, collects, and organizes data for special projects and management studies, or reviews data.

Conduct compensation review for all integrations to KMC to ensure market and internal alignment.

Administers salary grade and ranges for KMC to enhance compensation program for all non union job categories.

Reviews FLSA position status and ensures proper classification. Investigates and proposes resolution on classification questions and FLSA exemptions.

Team with central compensation department to assess and create new positions and job codes.

Maintains currency with, understands and ensures compliance with university policies and procedures, applicable federal, state and local regulations that may affect compensation, new developments in field and best practices. Reads pertinent literature and attends meetings.

Disseminates information to HR Partners, HR Payroll Analysts, supervisors, managers and administrators, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

5 years 5+ years of progressive compensation experience
-
2 years Healthcare Human Resources and/or administrative support experience

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Proficient verbal and written communication skills
-
Capable of communicating with all levels of employee-administrative to staff

Critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field.

HRIS experience a plus

SHRM (Human Resource Certification)

Certified Compensation Professional - CCP (WorldatWork)
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158,230.00.
